In May 1905, the main 3M Co investor was Edgar B. Aubert, who, together with his partner Lucius P. Ordway, had bought 60% of its shares in order to save the company. Moreover, he has attracted an additional $250'000.

In 1910, a new abrasive plant was built in the city of Saint Paul, in which Ordway decided to transfer the company's headquarters in 1916. The first dividends on shares were also paid at this period.

The invention of transparent scotch during the Great Depression helped the company to grow in a depressed environment in which most businesses had been struggled to break even. By 1932, the new product has become a best seller. Since that time, 3M's main customer base shifted from branded furniture and car factories to their new stationery stores. In the 1930s, 3M directed about 45% of its profits to the new researches.

In 1947, 3M Co held the first public issue of shares on the New York Stock Exchange: this event had attracted extra attention to the company. Among the novelties that have been debuted in the post-war period were magnetic audio tapes that appeared in the same year.

In the 1960s, the company's annual turnover reached $1 billion with the main focus on magnetic media production. In 2002, the company was officially renamed to 3M Group.

Today this brand is listed on the NYSE as MMM and its name is firmly established in our life.
