According to the official open sources, the company’s history began in 1817. Headquarters is located in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

Adidas AG has only two own factories, one in Germany and one in the US. Almost all products are manufactured by the 130 independent partner companies, which have a total of 289 factories; 71% are in Asia, 18% in America, 6% in Africa and 5% in Europe.

In 2018, 409 million pairs of Adidas snickers were produced (shoes account for 58% of the company's total sales).

Clothing production is concentrated in Asia. The largest factory is in China and gives 9% of the total concern revenue.

In 2018, the company employed 57'000 people. 32'000 of them were working in the retail chain, 6'000 engaged in logistics and marketing, 5'330 make up the company's administration, 4'000 were engaged in wholesale trade, by 1'000 were involved in the production, research and development, and information technology.
